Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Some day I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can’t I?
Some day I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can’t I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?

Michael Fischer was born in Leipzig in 1969. He studied at the Leipzig Graphic Arts High School.
Fischer-Art is an unusual and significant person on
the scene of emergent contemporary German art. [...]
Fischer-Art’s artistic evolution
is even more surprising as he has been able to develop
a language that is simultaneously independent and
inclusive of strong novelties, that has little in common
with developments in Berlin in particular and Germany
in general, and which has enabled him to carve out an
important role for himself within the international
artistic scene.
The roots of this particular evolution of his could,
perhaps, lead back to an anarchic tendency that
Fischer himself acknowledges is in his DNA, so to
speak. And it is precisely this tendency that has driven
him, from a tender age, to alternate his studies at the
Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig with frequent study
and research holidays abroad in the international art
capitals, in an attempt to elaborate his own personal
background with this continuous travelling, which,
above and beyond any academic instruction and
influence, has enabled him to develop a single,
innovative language. [...]
