The Barbara Mahler Gallery is proud to present the new, one-woman exhibition of the American artist Rory Burke in its UBS gallery in Lugano.
Rory Burke, a young artist of promise on the international contemporary art scene, born in Milwaukee in the state of Wisconsin, presents an exhibition centred on the theme of memory. A series of human profiles, [>> work ] characterised by an expressionist trait, containing elements that bring to mind a pre-Columbian culture, which in Burke’s intention take on the value of a sacred image of humanity’s collective memory.
The artist uses resin to give transparency to the skulls of her small male heads and to intimate, through a series of elements with a strong symbolic value, the most emotional aspect of the universal memory.
States of mind, common experiences follow one another, bringing to life a poetic fresco of man’s condition in contemporary reality.
A catalogue for this exhibition will be printed and edited by Publipaolini, with a review by Igor Zanti.
