The Galleria Barbara Mahler was created by Barbara Mahler herself towards the end of 2002 when she established her first gallery in the ancient borough of Pura near Lugano. Then the year 2005 saw the gallery begin a collaboration with UBS, and the inauguration of a new exhibition area in the bank’s headquarters in Lugano. Right from the outset the gallery has dedicated great attention the works of young emerging artists, both Swiss and foreign. Barbara Mahler has chosen to exhibit works that vary from the figurative to the abstract, from sculpture to painting, from video art to photography, all with the objective of offering the widest possible range of all the new artistic tendencies. In alternation with new names there have been exhibitions dedicated to artists who have reached a certain notoriety, thus creating a dialogue and a relationship between artists from various generations.
Over the years Barbara Mahler has established close contacts with the most important art critics and international curators and the gallery’s continuous growth has created a great deal of attention on the part of the specialized media. Future plans include exhibitions that will involve famous names in the art world, thus continuing this research and investigation of the macro currents that interest the world of contemporary art.
