The Galleria Barbara Mahler is proud to present a personal exhibition of the artist Fosco at its UBS gallery in Lugano.
Recent works, using Indian ink and water colours on linen paper, will be on view.
A return to poetics, where the pleasure of art for art’s sake with pencils, paint brushes, paper, colour, lines, drawings and silent thoughts, predominates.
An active witness of the Roman avant garde artistic scene during the seventies and eighties, Fosco has lived in Lugano since 1989, and here he chose to return to the mute, solitary art of painting, a pause beyond the deafening noise made by the production of media or extra-artistic images. Fosco’s painting, albeit in its recovery of simple figurative accents on a formal level, presents a quest into the line and casual, abstract aspects of certain art forms; an alliance between patches of colour and drawing, beyond the historical abstractionism- figuration conflict.
A catalogue will be compiled to mark the exhibition with an introduction by Fabio Sargentini.
The historical and critical texts are by Igor Zanti and Elio Schenini.
